Paper was invented in 104AD by Chinese, since then paper art has deeply rooted in Chinese culture. BiJian is carrying on this tradition by creating cutting-edge paper art. He channels his creative energy into contemporary forms of paper art, combining folding, cutting, and other techniques into his artistic expression. He explores the qualities and physical characteristics of paper, fabric, and other adaptable materials to construct a delicate sculpture. BiJian came to the USA for graduate studies in 1989 and earned his doctorate in mechanical engineering. By day he is a biotech engineer, but by night he designs and creates paper sculpture at his Camarillo, CA, home.
