Visit Germany -word with a name Harz "roller"

Lower Saxony the food is hearty, simple and very tasty. The culinary delights on offer range from shrimps, mussels and freshly-caught fish to hearty kale served with sausage and wonderfully fresh asparagus.

The Harz "Roller" is a type of cheese made from low-fat sour milk curd. It is relatively hard and light yellow in colour. When mature, the "Roller" has a pungent taste and rather strong smell. Asparagus is also a favourite in Lower Saxony. It is usually served with Hollandaise sauce or ham and melted butter. Along the Lower Saxony Asparagus Route, which stretches for 750 km, you can visit the main areas that produce this "white gold" and treat yourself to some freshly-picked asparagus.

Another typical regional dish is kale and pinkel (a traditional North German sausage with a rather high fat content), which is particularly popular in the Oldenburger Land region. Kale is a traditional winter vegetable in the region. It contains a high level of vitamin C and looks very much like spinach when cooked. However, it is part of the cabbage family.
