When Aris Sioutis is appointed school teacher at the 6th grade of an Athens elementary school, he notices that among his pupils there is a boy by the name of Lefteris, who is practically illiterate (he can barely read and write, and only knows addition) and, as such, has been marginalized. Aris decides to help the boy out of this impasse. In his effort he will come up against numerous obstacles: the mistrust of Lefteris himself; the hostility of his colleagues at school; the apathy of the boy's parents; the negative attitude of the other children. However, by virtue of his faith and persistence, he will succeed in overcoming these problems. In fact, when, at a critical point, Lefteris reverts to his old ways, Aris will find the way to get the boy back on his feet.
