Palestine's first 'female' radio station
A new Arabic radio station, Nisaa, is to be the first Palestinian channel devoted entirely to women and women's issues, according to maktoob.com.
The station, which is to include music, call-ins and discussion of social issues, is designed to appeal primarily to women, but also to make men more aware of the challenges women can face.
Its launch was attended by the Palestinian Minister for women's affairs, Rabiha Diab, who hopes the station will be able to highlight problems such as violence against women.
Unlike many countries in the region, women generally enjoy equal rights in the Palestinian territories, and this can only be another positive step.
