Negative impacts from the cesium beef fiasco have spread across the nation's meat industry, as farmers and meat dealers face returned shipments, increased inventory and cancellation of auctions, following the discovery of high levels of cesium in beef cattle from Fukushima Prefecture. The Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Ministry decided to buy up the bad beef, which was found to contain levels of radioactive cesium exceeding the government-set limit.
